The 1926 event took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

His work -- and his collection of works by other photographers -- documents key races, drivers, cars, and teams. Road races were held in 1956 and 1957 on a course at Paramount Ranch near Agoura Hills, California, where Paramount Studios shot many films. The track was closed after several driver fatalities and injuries.
