- Candleholder, 1940-1950 - The Van Briggle Pottery was among the most important and longest-lasting art potteries. In addition to educational demonstrations, exhibits, complimentary entertainment, and rides on the Road of Tomorrow experience, visitors to the Ford exposition found places to rest. Outdoors, on the grounds of the Ford building, fairgoers could relax among fountains and landscaped gardens.

Most of these keepsakes, known as Fraktur, were created by and for German immigrants. Others show influences from the English, Irish or Scot-Irish settlers. This design suggests similarities with German Fraktur, but differs in format and imagery -- a blending of art and traditions between the Valley's ethnic populations.
