- Mary Decker at 1984 Olympic Trials, June 1984 - The United States Olympic Team Trials for track and field were held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum from June 16-24, 1984. Mary Decker, the United States' premier middle-distance runner, dominated the 3000 meters race, but was upset in the 1500 meters event. More than a month later, Decker would compete in the same stadium at the 23rd Olympiad.

Mary Decker, the United States' premier middle-distance runner, dominated the 3000 meters race, but was upset in the 1500 meters event. More than a month later, Decker would compete in the same stadium at the 23rd Olympiad.

The mid-priced Mercury fit neatly between the basic Ford and the upscale Lincoln. Edsel Ford supervised the design of Mercury's 1939 models -- distinct from Ford and Lincoln, but still in keeping with Ford Motor's basic look. First-year bodies included two- and four-door sedans, a two-door coupe and a two-door convertible.

- Birdie Tebbetts with Grayling Winter Sports Queen, January 1939 - George "Birdie" Tebbetts played on the Detroit Tigers as a catcher from 1936 to 1947, with a three-year pause for military service during World War II. He later managed teams in Cincinnati, Milwaukee and Cleveland. In 1939, Tebbetts traveled to Grayling, Michigan, about 200 miles north of Detroit, and posed with the Grayling Winter Sports Queen and a 1939 Mercury sedan.
