The New Jersey firm of Jerry O'Mahony Dining Cars became one of the leading diner manufacturers for decades, introducing hundreds of diners in numerous styles. Topps Gaylord Diner, located in Providence, Rhode Island, was one of O'Mahony's large-sized diner-restaurants of the post-World War II era. A 1953 issue of Popular Science called it "The World's Fanciest Diner."
