The first "poop emoji" appeared on the 1997 J-Phone, becoming widespread in 2007 when Google developed the ability for Gmail users to insert it into emails. Google Doodle's Ryan Germick is credited with adding a smiling face to this emoji. Throughout 2016-2020, former President Donald Trump's face was often superimposed by artists onto this emoji, expressing unhappiness with his policies.
