Local Boston bicycle clubs organized annual tours called Wheel Around the Hub. The one pictured here took place in 1894. The original tour, held in 1879, traveled one hundred miles around Boston, Massachusetts, with cyclists pedaling high-wheel bicycles. Fifteen years later, club members were riding Rover-style "safety" bikes as seen in this photograph.
