- Engraved Copy of the 1776 Declaration of Independence, Commissioned by John Quincy Adams, Printed 1823 - This is an exact, precise facsimile of one of America's greatest documents. It is one of two hundred copies commissioned by Secretary of State John Quincy Adams in 1820. It is an engraving made from the original document. Two copies each were given to the surviving signers and the rest distributed to Congress, state governments and colleges and universities.

- Elijah McCoy: Specification for Improvement in Apparatus in Oiling Slide Valves, Filed March 12, 1887 - Canadian-American inventor Elijah McCoy developed a mechanical lubricator to oil the slide valves on a steam locomotive. McCoy's device automatically supplied measured amounts of oil to the valve, reducing the need for crews to lubricate it manually. McCoy received a patent on his invention in 1872. He refined the device many times. This patent is for an 1887 modification.

By war's end over 180,000 men in 175 regiments had joined the United States Colored Troops. This muster roll reveals the names of men serving in Company E, 46th Regiment in 1865.

By the end of the 1920s, most local governments required owners to register their cars and possess a driver's licenses. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania issued this driver's license in 1923.

- License Granting the Marrietta Steam Mill Company Use of an Oliver Evans Patented Steam Engine, 1812 - In 1804, Oliver Evans received a patent for a high-pressure steam engine -- a radical departure from the early low-pressure engines operating in the United States at the time. Evans found commercial applications in the flour-milling industry, where some of his other innovations had already been influential. One of Evans's patented engines was installed in a steam flour mill in Marietta, Ohio, in 1811.
