- Visitor Pass to Lincoln Motor Co. Plants, Issued to Henry Ford, July 1918 - Lincoln Motor Company issued this visitor pass to Henry Ford in 1918. It provided him with access to all Lincoln plants at all hours. Four years later, Henry Ford no longer needed a "visitor" pass. His Ford Motor Company purchased Lincoln in 1922, when Lincoln was struggling from the post-World War I recession.

While the three men delighted in the outdoors, their accommodations weren't particularly rustic. This vehicle, built on a 1922 Lincoln chassis, traveled with them. It carried food and cooking utensils for elaborate meals that might include steak, chicken, or freshly baked pie.

When pacifist and General Motors head Billy Durant wouldn't let Cadillac build the engines, Cadillac founder Henry Leland quit in protest, formed Lincoln Motor Company, and manufactured 6,500 of them. Packard, Ford, Marmon, and -- after Durant relented -- Buick and Cadillac also built Liberty engines.
