- Tom Thumb's Carriage, circa 1875 - This miniature carriage was custom built for entertainer Charles Stratton, better known by his stage name Tom Thumb. Discovered by P.T. Barnum, the diminutive Thumb (3 feet, 4 inches tall when fully grown) sang and danced to the delight of 19th-century audiences. Thumb advertised his show by riding in this carriage, behind a team of ponies, through cities where he performed.

Photographs by the institution's photographer were taken if the celebrity allowed it. Singer, songwriter and composer Paul Williams visited the museum in 1980.

Photographs by the institution's photographer were taken if the celebrity allowed it. Singer, songwriter and composer Paul Williams visited the museum in 1980.
- Mickey Rooney and Students from the Edison Institute Schools with the Tom Thumb Carriage in Henry Ford Museum, 1940 - In February 1940, Mickey Rooney and MGM executives were guests of Henry Ford at the Edison Institute. The group was preparing for the premier of the MGM production <em>Young Tom Edison</em>. Rooney, the film's star, and studio executives would take a train supplied by Henry Ford to Port Huron, Michigan. Port Huron was the boyhood home of Thomas Edison and site of the premier.

In February 1940, Mickey Rooney and MGM executives were guests of Henry Ford at the Edison Institute. The group was preparing for the premier of the MGM production Young Tom Edison. Rooney, the film's star, and studio executives would take a train supplied by Henry Ford to Port Huron, Michigan. Port Huron was the boyhood home of Thomas Edison and site of the premier.

Manufacturers sent their best products to the fair to be admired by millions of attendees. This brougham won first prize in the fair's carriage competition, besting entries from other American and European makers. The coachman-driven brougham style was popular with urban professionals.

Its compact size made for easy maneuverability, while its drop-center floor and long door provided ready passenger access. This brougham belonged to John J. Tanner, who used it to ferry people between the railroad station and hotel in Brighton, Michigan, from about 1871 to 1910.

Though automobiles began to replace horse-drawn vehicles during the Taft administration, the White House housekeeping department continued using the brougham to haul groceries and run other errands. In 1928 a Ford Model A was acquired for that purpose and this carriage was retired.
