- A Merry Christmas, circa 1910 - Ernest Nister was a German printer and publisher in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He produced colorfully printed calendars, postcards, and holiday greeting cards--but he is best known for his moveable books for children. Nister created this Christmas card with a simple pop-up element; when opened, a pair of bells with festival holiday greenery rise above the bellringers.
