This IBM dictation machine stand makes a sculptural, yet functional statement about the use, support, mobility, and integration of time-saving and recording technology into office work environments.
- Stand, 1890-1915 - In 1890, Jenny Young Chandler, 25 years old and recently widowed, began working for the <em>New York Herald</em>. As a photojournalist and feature writer, Chandler captured life in Brooklyn, New York, and vicinity. She also documented collections of private individuals and museums -- some of which were featured in magazine articles for collectors. By 1922, the time of her death, she had produced over 800 glass plate negatives.

- Burroughs Bookkeeping Machine, circa 1928 - Bookkeeping machines were the precursors to the computer -- they processed and moved complex numeric and alphabetic data. Combining elements of typewriters, adding machines, and calculators, bookkeeping machines processed payroll, taxes, and recorded payments and billing. Efficient and reliable, these devices eased the workload of office workers. They were also used as vote tabulators and for complex calculation of scientific data.

- Replica of a Samurai Warrior's Helmet, Presented to La-Z-Boy by Its Japanese Subsidiary, 1970-1979 - Cousins and business partners Edwin Shoemaker and Edward Knabusch established the Floral City Furniture Company (now La-Z-Boy) in 1927. Through a combination of invention and marketing savvy, their small Monroe, Michigan, company grew to become a global leader in the furniture industry. This replica of a samurai warrior's helmet was presented to the company by its Japan subsidiary.
