- Lincoln Highway Marker, circa 1925 - This glass electric street light globe, from Wooster, Ohio, identified the Lincoln Highway, America's first cross-country named highway. Dedicated in 1913, it ran for over three thousand miles from New York City to San Francisco, California, passing through twelve states. By 1925, the federal government began numbering the patchwork of named highways, and the Lincoln Highway passed into memory.
