- Telegraph Key Used by Theodore Haubner to Send One of the First "SOS" Distress Signal on August 11, 1909 - In 1909, telegraph operator Theodore Haubner sent the first American ship-to-shore wireless distress signal -- SOS -- using this telegraph key. Haubner was aboard the SS <em>Arapahoe</em> off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, when it became disabled.

- Telegraph Key, 1910-1920 - John Hays Hammond, Jr., was largely responsible for launching the field of radio control. In 1926, he built a medieval-inspired castle in Gloucester, Massachusetts. This site served as his home and research laboratory. With over 400 patents to his name, Hammond developed ideas for radio control, autopilot function, and targeted missile detonation. This device was used in Hammond's laboratory.

- Telegraph Key Used by Julius McMartin to Communicate with Thomas A. Edison on a Homemade Line between Their Homes, circa 1859 - This telegraph key was used by Julius McMartin to communicate with twelve-year-old Thomas A. Edison on a homemade line installed between their Port Huron homes in 1859. Telegraph keys act as switches. They complete an electrical current to open and close relays at receiving stations. Longer or shorter closures produce the telegraphic code.

This telegraph key was used by Julius McMartin to communicate with twelve-year-old Thomas A. Edison on a homemade line installed between their Port Huron homes in 1859.
