Summary

Willard Lamb Velie, grandson of John Deere, formed the Velie Motor Vehicle Company in 1908. The Moline, Illinois, company built automobiles until 1928, the year its founder died. Velie's son, Willard Velie, Jr., took over and focused on the company's aviation production begun a few years earlier. Unfortunately, he died in early 1929, and soon after the company was sold.
