The long-term preservation of historic artifacts requires attention to the use of proper storage, display and conservation techniques as well as careful handling. The staff at The Henry Ford have compiled these documents and videos to help you to care for your collections.
Fact Sheets
Our conservation staff have developed these fact sheets and videos to assist in caring for your historical artifacts. The fact sheets provide basic information on the care, cleaning and handling of a particular type of artifact, referral information for conservation organizations, and a bibliography of authoritative works.
The videos and their accompanying written instructions demonstrate techniques for the creation of custom artifact housing and storage techniques, as well as handling techniques for large and complicated artifacts.
Individuals may also arrange for a private consultation with one of our conservators. For more information, please contact us at the Benson Ford Research Center.
