Trade Card for American Typewriter Co., circa 1900

Summary

The American Typewriter Company used this trade card to market their American Visible typewriter as inexpensive and lightweight. It was an index typewriter masquerading as a keyboard typewriter: users moved the metal indicator to choose a letter on the QWERTY index, which printed from a strip of hard rubber type. Many typewriters of the day printed on the back of the paper; "visible" was also a marketing term.
