Lincoln Roadster Pedal Car, 1921

Summary

Not long after real automobiles appeared, pedal cars -- child-sized, pedal-powered replicas -- followed. Not surprisingly, basic and less expensive pedal cars tended to be modeled after low-priced cars like Ford or Chevrolet. More elaborate and detailed pedal cars replicated more expensive lines, like this one based on a Lincoln roadster. Toledo, Ohio, was home to many pedal car manufacturers.
