Land O' Lakes Egg Carton, 2008
01
Artifact Overview
In the early 2000s, Americans concerned about the healthfulness of food and the treatment of the animals that provided it were willing to pay more for "all natural" products. The eggs in this carton were laid by hens fed with antibiotic-free feed. The "cage free" label implied they were raised in open environments, a misrepresentation of conditions on large-scale egg farms.
