Don Prudhomme won NHRA's Funny Car Championship four times in his 35 years of drag racing. Prudhomme, nicknamed "The Snake," thrilled fans in the early 1970s through his friendly rivalry with fellow racer Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen. The two drivers, sponsored by Mattel, saw their fame spread with a series of popular Hot Wheels sets based on their cars.
