"DuMont Television, the 21-Inch Oxford," 1952

Summary

In the experimental days of television, Dr. Allen B. DuMont pioneered both television manufacture and broadcasting. DuMont Laboratories were responsible for many early technical innovations, including the first consumer-oriented electronic television set in 1938. In 1946, DuMont created his own television network, which rivaled NBC until competition forced its broadcasting to cease in the mid-1950s.
