Italian-American driver Ralph DePalma enjoyed a long career in motorsport. From his first event in 1909 until his retirement in 1936, DePalma won an estimated 2,000 races. He competed in the Indianapolis 500 ten times, winning in 1915. DePalma made his last Indy 500 appearance -- as an honorary referee -- in 1954.
