Though Pikes Peak, Colorado, is better known for its international hill climb race, the area has also hosted oval-track racing. Pikes Peak International Raceway opened near Colorado Springs in 1997, and its one-mile circuit was home to various professional Indy car and stock car events. More recently, amateur racing series have used the facility for training and competitions.
