Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi after Winning 24 Hours of Le Mans Race, September 29, 1968

Summary

Mexican Pedro Rodriguez (left) and Belgian Lucien Bianchi won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1968 driving a Ford GT40. The race was held in September, rather than the normal June, due to political unrest in France. The autumn weather made for unusually cool and wet race conditions, but Rodriguez and Bianchi led for 17 of the 24 hours.
