Summary

Cedar Point was established as a summer resort at Sandusky, Ohio, in 1870. From its bathing beach and picnic grounds on Lake Erie, the resort grew to include rides, restaurants, hotels, and a ballroom. Starting in the 1960s, it was transformed into a modern amusement park with increasingly exciting attractions -- especially roller coasters -- added each year.
