Artifact Overview

For the 1928 model year, Ford Motor Company replaced the aged Model T with the up-to-date Model A. The new car was completely redesigned. It featured a larger, 201-cubic-inch engine capable of 40 horsepower. It had a three-speed, sliding-gear transmission. The Model A also used mechanical brakes on each of its four wheels, unlike the Model T's transmission brake.
