Summary

The American Automobile Association (AAA) was formed in 1902 to lobby for drivers' rights and promote safe vehicles and roads. As Americans' passion for driving grew, the organization expanded its services to include roadside assistance and trip planning. By the late 1950s, seven million members had joined more than 750 affiliated branches. AAA recounted its history and public service accomplishments in this 1957 brochure.
