Artifact Overview

Formed in 1944, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) organized conferences, rallies, hill climb competitions, and road races for amateur drivers and motorsports enthusiasts. In the 1950s, safety concerns led SCCA to move its road events to closed courses. In 1962, SCCA dropped its amateur-only policy and began sanctioning professional events too.
