Artifact Overview

The 19-mile Pikes Peak Highway opened in 1915, allowing motorists to reach the 14,115-foot summit of Colorado's Pikes Peak. The toll road became a popular tourist attraction, and those who made the drive were proud to show it with decals like this. The road also hosts the annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb auto race, first held in 1916.
