Artifact Overview

Mailing colorful Christmas cards had become an American tradition by the 1920s and 1930s and would continue throughout the century. Americans who celebrated commonly exchanged cards with family and friends, wishing one another seasonal holiday greetings. Cards from the mid-century with images of older vehicles harkened to earlier times, perhaps evoking a simpler time before the sleek, fast-paced cars of the era.
