In the late 1940s, the McDonald brothers had a radical new idea -- assembly-line production of a limited menu, at drastically reduced prices. By the mid-1950s, McDonald's new food system was in place. It was an idea that created a fast-food nation. This photograph shows one of the many new McDonald's Restaurants that appeared about 1955.
