Brochure, "Proctor-Silex, It's Ice Cream Time!," circa 1940
01
Artifact Overview
By the mid-1960s, the era of this recipe booklet, many consumers had grown tired of the overly processed ice cream they bought at the grocery store and nostalgically longed for the rich, pure, natural flavor of homemade ice cream. Making ice-cream with a hand-cranked ice-cream freezer was both a fun social activity and a reminder of that long-forgotten flavor.
