Art Garland Parlor Stove, circa 1890
01
Artifact Overview
In the late 19th century, Detroit, Michigan, made more stoves than any other place in the world. This "Art Garland" stove was one of the fanciest models made by that city's Michigan Stove Company. The design is quite showy. Properly furnishing the parlor -- the best room in the house -- required a stylish, highly decorative parlor stove.
