Artifact Overview

This clock form embodied innovation, forever changing people's minds about owning a clock. Early mass-production methods in the manufacture of these clocks reduced their price to an affordable ten dollars. "Yankee peddlers" traveled the countryside selling these clocks and spreading their popularity. The clock's attractive "pillar and scroll" form and painting on glass also appealed to people at the time.
