Artifact Overview

Multiple designers were responsible for the 1949 Ford's fresh look. Independent consultant George Walker submitted the initial design proposal. Walker's employees Richard Caleal, Elwood Engel and Joe Oros all contributed to the project, as did Bob Bourke and Bob Koto, with whom Caleal had previously worked for Raymond Loewy and Studebaker. Ford's own designers made further refinements to the final version.
