Printed broadsides were used to distributed news and information quickly during the Revolutionary War era. This broadside from 1777 announced that the governor and general assembly of Connecticut had ordered two militia battalions to be formed and sent to support the Continental Army. Many of these men would march to New York and help defeat the British in the Battles of Saratoga.
