Bell from Sidewheeler Steamboat, "Tashmoo," 1900

Artifact Overview
Launched on December 30, 1899, the sidewheeler Tashmoo spent its career carrying passengers between Detroit and Port Huron, Michigan. With a 2,500-horsepower triple-expansion steam engine, Tashmoo was capable of 23 miles per hour, making it one of the fastest passenger steamers on the Great Lakes. Tashmoo was scrapped after being damaged by a submerged rock in 1936.
