Artifact Overview
Ford Motor Company added the Charles L. Hutchison to its fleet in 1962. Ford refitted and renamed it the Ernest R. Breech in honor of a former board chairman. Like the other Great Lakes bulk carriers owned by Ford, the ship hauled raw material to its River Rouge factory near Detroit, Michigan. Ford sold the ship in the late 1980s.
