Barney Litogot of Taylor, Michigan, served with the 24th Michigan Volunteer Infantry -- part of the famed "Iron Brigade" -- during the Civil War. Twice wounded, Litogot fought with his unit in many of the Civil War's costliest battles including Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, and Cold Harbor. Litogot was the brother of Henry Ford's mother, Mary. Their brother John died at Fredericksburg in 1862.
