Mr. and Mrs. Raymond and Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Board a Horse-drawn Carriage at the Waterford General Store, October 21, 1929

01

Artifact Overview

On October 21, 1929, Henry Ford hosted an event, Light's Golden Jubilee, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of Thomas Edison's invention of a practical incandescent lamp. After a morning reception, guests could view the historical buildings Ford had gathered for Greenfield Village, his outdoor museum. The day was a rainy mess, but this did not dampen his guests' enthusiasm as they went from building to building.
