Produced for the United States Presidential election of 1864, this brass and shell button contains portraits of the "Republican" candidates Abraham Lincoln for president and Andrew Johnson for vice president. Lincoln and Johnson were technically the "National Union Party" candidates for 1864, the national ticket name used by Republicans loyal to Lincoln and the "War Democrats."
