Artifact Overview

Deer Park Speedway opened on New York's Long Island in 1928. The half-mile dirt oval track closed during World War II and then re-opened in 1946 with a new quarter-mile paved oval. But the track fell victim to suburbanization and changing zoning laws. Deer Park Speedway closed for good in 1948.
