Celebrity endorsements are nothing new in automobile advertising. Actress, dancer and singer Ginger Rogers sang the praises of Chrysler's mid-priced DeSoto brand in this December 1938 advertisement. When the ad was published, Rogers was nearing the end of a run of nine successful musical films she made for RKO Pictures with co-star Fred Astaire.
