The 1939-40 New York World's Fair - themed "Building the World of Tomorrow" - encouraged a depression-weary public that the future would be rosy. The fair in New York City's Flushing Meadows-Corona Park attracted 45 million visitors. Many fairgoers returned home with souvenirs, such as this colorful tablecloth depicting the fairgrounds.
