Telegraph Register, 1880-1920
01
Artifact Overview
This telegraph register printed incoming Morse code signals onto a strip of paper. Electrical signals interacted with electromagnets, which in turn pulled a metal arm fitted with a stylus to create dashes and dots on the paper tape feeding off of the upper reel. Depending on the register model, marks were made either by embossment, or by ink.
