"By an Express Arrived…Saturday Evening, Last We Have the Following Account of the Battle at Charlestown," July 1775

On the afternoon of June 17, 1775, British troops engaged American militiamen entrenched on a hilly ridge on the Charlestown peninsula overlooking the city of Boston, Massachusetts. When news reached Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Francis Bailey published this broadside of the account of the battle later known as Bunker Hill. Broadsides like this were widely distributed and read in churches, taverns, and other public venues.
