Holmsman 4-Cylinder Automobile Engine, circa 1910

THF811037 / Holmsman 4-Cylinder Automobile Engine, circa 1910
01

Artifact Overview

Architect Henry K. Holsman formed Holsman Automobile Company of Chicago in 1901. Its simple but serviceable high-wheel cars were able to navigate poor rural roads of the day. Sales of Holsman's affordable vehicles declined after 1908, when the similarly priced but more advanced Ford Model T debuted. Production ended in 1910. This four-cylinder, air-cooled engine dates from around that time.
