Veterinarian George Sturm (1904-1980) traveled from farm to farm in the mid-1900s dispensing home-mixed medicines to ailing horses, cows, and other farm animals around Bad Axe, Michigan, where he practiced. Rural veterinarians often stored liquid or powdered medicines in a bottle like this.
