This photograph shows the Smiths Creek Depot in its original location on the Grand Trunk Western Railway, about nine miles southwest of Port Huron, Michigan. Thomas Edison passed by this building regularly while working as a newsboy on GTW's Port Huron-Detroit run. In the 19th century, the railroad station was a center of small-town American life.
