Hulbert Harrington Warner, a wealthy fire- and burglar-proof safe manufacturer, purchased medicinal formulas in the late 1800s and turned them into a multi-million-dollar patent medicine business. He also made and sold yeast. Warner advertised these products as "safe," alluding to his original business and his product's perceived quality.
