Box churns tumble cream to make butter. The Tiffin Union Churn Company of Tiffin, Ohio, made this box churn around 1880. The company promoted their products by stenciling the churn with awards won by the churn. This type of churn won the First Premium at the state fairs of Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and New York.
